Coverack to Porthtowan, Cornwall

The one everybody has heard of, and the reason a lot of people find the Cornish coast path in the first place. The 100-miler goes point to point from Coverack round to Porthtowan — 173km and 5,507m of climbing, most of it in the dark, in January. Shorter races follow over the weekend: 100K on the Saturday, then 50K and 20K on the Sunday. It has run since 2015 and grown from fifty starters to one of the biggest trail events in the country.

St Just to St Ives, Cornwall

Eighteen miles point to point from the miners’ chapel at St Just to St Ives, over what is arguably the hardest and best stretch of the whole coast path. Muddy fields, rocky headlands, bog and a climb round most corners. The Ultra Jack doubles it — out from St Ives to Cape Cornwall and back, 35 miles with over 7,000 feet of climbing. Entries open on 1 November 2026.

Lizard Point to Land’s End, Cornwall

The southernmost point of England to the westernmost, in one go: 44 miles of the south Cornish coast path and 5,531 feet of climbing, covering ninety degrees of the compass — hence the name. Run it solo, as a relay pair or as a team of four. First held in 2007 and in its twenty-first running in 2027; solo places go early, so do not leave it.

Land’s End to Godrevy, Cornwall (marathon starts at Pendeen)

Point to point along the far west of the coast path, stitching together three lighthouses: Longships, Pendeen and Godrevy. The marathon starts at Pendeen and covers 26.2 miles with nearly 4,000 feet of climbing; the ultra starts further back at Land’s End and runs 35 miles with over 6,000 feet. Both finish at Godrevy. Mud, sand, rock and tarmac, with a few dunes to finish on.

Point to point along the European cultural route from Lelant to Marazion, taking in Trencrom, Ludgvan and more along the way. Registration at St Uny’s Church in Lelant from 8am, 10am start, five-hour cutoff. Multi-terrain underfoot throughout.

Part of the Endurancelife Coastal Trail Series, following the Jurassic Coast Path, a UNESCO World Heritage site, out from Swanage. Four distances on the day: 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra. The ultra covers 32.3 miles with 4,416 feet of climbing over trail and grass, with the sea in view for most of it. Marathon and ultra distances count as UTMB qualifiers.

Starts and finishes on Polzeath beach, heading north-east around the Pentire Peninsula through unspoilt coastline, fishing villages and valleys. Four distances on the day: 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra. The ultra covers 31.4 miles with 6,558 feet of climbing over trail, sand, rock and grass, classified by Endurancelife as severe terrain.

Coastal Trail Series race through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty around Beesands, starting on sandy coves and rocky shoreline before turning inland into the Devon hills. Four distances: 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra. The ultra runs 33.8 miles with 5,397 feet of climbing over grass and rock, classified as severe terrain. Marathon and ultra count as UTMB qualifiers.

An out-and-back trail race along the rugged north Cornwall cliffs from Portreath Beach, on a well-maintained multi-terrain footpath. 10am start, registration from 8am, three-hour cutoff. A discounted entry is offered to anyone who cycles or runs to the start. Entries open 1 January 2027.

Martinhoe, Exmoor

Widely reckoned the toughest race in the Coastal Trail Series: stiff climbs and long descents through open moorland and wooded combes, past historical ruins and dizzying cliffs above Martinhoe. Four distances: 10K, half marathon, marathon and ultra. The ultra covers 31.8 miles with 6,785 feet of climbing, more ascent than any other race in the series over a shorter distance. Marathon and ultra count as UTMB qualifiers.

Land’s End, Cornwall

A one-loop, roughly 10-mile multi-terrain race starting and finishing at Land’s End. The route heads out through Sennen Cove and Gwynver, turns inland via Sennen, Bottoms and Polgigga, then returns along the coast path via Nanjizal: road, grass and gravel track, with a few genuine hills. Entries opened 1 March 2026 and close two weeks before the race.
